I Need Feedback on my Website.

Q: I Did A Website Makeover Yesterday, What Do You Think?

Robert, here’s my three cents :)

I have seen some very fine DIY sites, so that’s not the issue. I think what most people struggle with is to find their true online voice, this is vital if you want to stand up from the crowd, ultimately the site should represent who you are and this can take a while to figure out how to express it on a website.

Functionality is more important than whether it feels 90ish or modern, you can start by making sure your site is mobile friendly (which is not) just by switching to a responsive template so it’s easy to navigate from a smartphone, this is the way most people Google things these days.

The message should be concise and clear, straight and to the point, you can add a short (2 mins) explainer video to your home page, Fiverr is a great place to do this. For free high quality photos go to: pixabay.com, DIY logo at pixlr.com, again, I’m making the assumption this is on a budget (if you have thousands to spend let’s talk, lol).

What’s your main goal for having a site? You want it to bring new customers or just have something to write when fill out business online forms? Like I said earlier, I’ve seen DIY sites that bring revenue; I’ve also seen expensive designer sites where the owner spent thousands of dollars and the site sits there doing nothing for the business. It’s all about what you want to accomplish.

Hope this helps!
